Construction leads in workplace fatalities in Texas according to a 2005 study released this week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In Texas there were 495 fatal work injuries in 2005, and 134 occurred in the construction industry. Overall, fatalities are down from the peak of 572 in 2000. Men accounted for 95 percent of work-related fatalities in Texas.

Safety is a growing concern among the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas, said the group's president, T.W. Bailey. And education programs were launched last year with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

If you and or someone you know has been injured or killed in a work related injury, please contact an attorney immediately to discuss your options.
