Mayfield Care Center was investigated by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability (DADS) and was found not up to par. The state of Texas has placed a trustee in charge. "While investigating a complaint about the facility, DADS surveyors found the facility was providing extremely poor quality of care, which posed an immediate threat to the health and safety of residents." The release also stated, "In addition, the facility does not have a director of nursing as is required by state and federal law."

District Judge Margaret Cooper of Austin signed a court order late Wednesday appointing long-term care administrator David French to over see Mayfield Care Center. Mr. French works for the court system.

The issues at Mayfield Care Center included several residents with bedsores.

Bedsores are often the result of poor or negligent care at nursing homes. If you or a loved one has suffered as a result of a bedsore and you have any questions then contact my office.
