Medical Malpractice Premiums and Jury Verdicts

It's always nice to see someone outside the legal world agreeing with the fact that the insurance companies are a little less than truthful when they claim that rising premiums are a result of "frivolous" lawsuits. David at The Supreme Irony of Life points out that numerous tests show jury awards have not risen significantly and are not driving up malpractice premiums.

Insurance companies are raising their premiums to remain profitable, which in turn causes employers to raise the rates that their employees pay, in order to "remain competitive", and more people drop insurance, because they can no longer afford it, driving them to the emergency room for routine medical care, thus ...
