Dennis and Kimberly Quaid speak out about the medical mistakes at Cedars-Sinai hospital that almost cost them their children's lives.

Their twins were supposed to be given two doses of Hep-lock which is the children's version of Heparin. Hep-lock and Heparin are blood thinners. Instead of receiving the two doses of Hep-lock they received one-thousand times that amount.

This is not the first time there has been a mistake regarding giving Heparin instead of Hep-lock to infants. At Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, six infants were given Heparin instead of the pediatric version and only half the infants survived.

"These mistakes that occurred to us are not unique. And they're not unique even to Cedars. They happen in every hospital, in every state in this country. And 100,000 people, that I've come to find out, there's 100,000 people a year are killed every year in hospitals by a medical mistakes," he says.

"What we see with Heparin is that it is almost always in the list of top ten drugs that are reported for medication errors, and almost always in the top ten that are harmful," Cousins tells Kroft.
