A van and a tow truck were driving towards each other on Texas 6 in Robertson County when they collided. Four people were killed and two were hurt in the car accident.

The Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred as the van attempted to pass an 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone on Texas 6 near Hammond. The drivers of the van and the tow truck took evasive action but both swerved in the same direction and collided, the DPS said.

The seats came out of the van along with the passengers. The police are unsure if seat belts were worn by the victims. The driver of the van and the driver of the tow truck were both taken to a local hospital for treatment. The tow truck driver was released. The police are still investigating the accident.
