A man with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit caused a car accident that killed 3 people. The accident happened in McCarty on Interstate 10 Saturday night.
The gas tank of the victims' westbound 2007 Toyota Corolla burst into flames after being rear-ended by a 1993 Dodge Ram van just east of McCarty about 8:30 p.m., killing a man, a woman and a male child. Their identities were not immediately released.
The drunk driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Alcohol, high speed and rapid lane changes were all a factor in the accident. He will be charged with 3 counts of intoxication manslaughter.
